Flo Lowe is the mother of Gilbert Lowe. It is hinted that Gilbert feels a certin obligation to take care of her, which is likely due to the fact his father died prior to the events of the film. Although Mrs. Lowe commends Gilbert for his dedication to the family, she says it is time for him to grow up and attend college, and that she will be able to mind the house on her own.
Flo does not appear in the series after initial appearance at the beginning of the first film. Lewis calls her "Flo" when he comes to pick up Gilbert early in the movie, and Gilbert's last name is revealed to be "Lowe" at the end of the first movie, giving her the humorous rhyming name of Flo Lowe. The closing credits simply call her "Mrs. Lowe."
